Our Mission

Making life easier for adopted children

Adoption Made Easier (AME) is a small grant-giving charity set up in 2026 providing grants for all kinds of interventions - see the sort of things we can support here

Our mission is to ease daily life for families with adopted children and those with a Special Guardianship Order, by providing fast, hassle-free grants for therapy, equipment and other vital support that improves physical and emotional well-being.  We want to remove barriers so families get the help they need, when they need it.

We recognise that the Government’s cuts to the Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Fund (ASGSF) mean that there is often insufficient funding to meet the complex needs of some adopted children.  We also know that accessing the fund can be difficult and slow.  AME’s objective is to provide grants for adopted children in a timely and accessible manner.  If you are already receiving funding from the ASGSF, you can still apply for a grant.

We support families with legally adopted children, and those with a Special Guardianship Order (21 years old or younger) who live in England and Wales.

Our Story

Our Founding Story

“Adoption is an incredible privilege and I’m so grateful to have two extraordinary daughters. But it can also be complicated, challenging and exhausting.

Before I adopted, I naively thought that love could conquer anything.  Sadly, this is not the case.  Our children are suffering from trauma, loss, neglect and sometimes abuse – their healing is a complex journey that requires so much more than love.

I know from my own experience how difficult it is to get the right support, at the right time.  I found it incredibly stressful trying to get help – answering the same questions repeatedly to different social workers, endless form filling, emails, phone calls, waiting for months and, in my case, over a year, to get approval and funding for the support my daughter needed.

After suffering so much already, it’s heartbreaking to see children continue to do so when you know that an intervention that could really make a difference is being held up by bureaucracy or lack of funding.

We want Adoption Made Easier to make it easier and quicker to get support.”

Our Trustees

Our Trustees

Our Trustees are volunteers who receive no payment from Adoption Made Easier. They are responsible for overseeing the charity’s operations and deciding how and where grants are awarded. They give their time and energy willingly to support a cause they deeply believe in.

We deliberately select our Trustees to bring together a diverse mix of backgrounds, experience, skills and strengths.  This approach helps us make more thoughtful decisions to achieve our charitable goals.  Our different perspectives lead to stronger, better choices.

Sue

Chair

Sue’s background is in marketing and leadership coaching, working with executives across a broad range of industries.  She has run her own business for the past 25 years.  With two adopted children – now teenagers – she finds that her coaching skills don’t work quite as well with them as her clients!

She has served as a trustee for a grant making charity for 30 years and has volunteered in a variety of roles including Missing People, mentoring teenagers and working in a community kitchen.

Alongside working and parenting, she is energised by outdoor activity, including tennis, walking and cycling.  She’s a member of a choir (amateur) and book club (very low brow).  Talking and laughing with friends keeps her sane, along with her guilty pleasures of chocolate, wine and Netflix!
